Bosman's Community Tourism Camp
... is now open in the southwest of Gonarezhou National Park!
The camp has:
Six fully furnished en suite tents that can be configured as twins or doubles with all bedding, mozzie nets, and towels provided (extra camp beds can be added for kids).
Each accommodation unit has its’ own solar power and a spacious modern bathroom - with solar shower, flush toilet, basin, etc.
Units 1 to 4 share a fully kitted central kitchen area with solar power, gas cookers, scullery, laundry, fridges, freezers, baboon-safe pantry and all cookware, cutlery, crockery, and glassware provided.
The entertainment area is centred around a traditional Shangaan-style fire boma linked to the spacious veranda and dining area
Units 5 & 6 share a smaller kitchen area similarly equipped and fitted.
Drinking water is provided through filter units in the central kitchen areas.
The camp is serviced by 3 ladies and 2 groundsmen employed and trained from the local community. The ladies clean the rooms & kitchen, do the laundry and washing up and can assist with packng cool boxes for day trips, or with basic food preparation (if self-catering option is selected).
The camp is fully fenced to exclude wild animals.
Fees are on a self-catering basis and are inclusive of day access to Gonarezhou National Park and the nearby Manjinji Pan Bird and Wetland Sanctuary (which also falls under the Manjinji - Bosman's Community Conservation & Tourism Partnership).
Bosman's Camp can be booked with a Chef and game viewing vehicle as optional extras and guests can elect between self-catering and catered options by prior arrangement.
Camping is also available at the nearby Manjinji Pan Bird and Wetland Sanctuary at one of 5 private campsites each with a secluded view of the Pan and with their own shower, flush toilet, braai stand and washing up basins.
Bosman's and Manjinji Pan both have cell phone signal, a nearby airstrip that is very well maintained, and guests can purchase diesel fuel from the nearby Makonde Parks Office.
The Manjinji Bosman’s Community Conservation and Tourism Partnership is developed as a Private Public Community Partnership between Malipati Development Trust, Gonarezhou Conservation Trust and Chiredzi RDC.
The camps are managed and maintained by Gonarezhou Conservation Trust on a cost recovery basis, with all profits going to the local Malipati community.
The initiative was developed by WILD-Africa.org – a department of Sustainable Agriculture Technology (a local Zimbabwean NGO).
The partnership was financed through generous donation of the EUROPEAN UNION with additional support from USAID.
